Homemade Gifts Make Heartwarming Gifts for Mothers!
Homemade gifts make great gifts for Mothers. And depending upon their age, kids often like to work on fun art projects and turn them into gifts for their Moms and Dads.
If your kids aren't necessarily inclined to do so, encourage them! There is nothing like a homemade gift from your children. Here are a few projects your children can make - ideas you might just want to try out:
Homemade Mobile - Determine a theme for your mobile. Some possible themes include: family members (and their interests), cars and trucks, shapes, flowers, sports, etc.
Using cardstock (you can find this at an art store), draw the desired shapes onto the cardstock and cut them out. Decorate them with markers, crayons, beads, buttons, felt, foamy shapes, glitter glue--whatever you'd like!
For the first tier shapes, punch holes at the top of each shape and tie a string that extends from each shape to the bottom of a hanger. For the second and third tier shapes, punch holes on both the tops and bottoms of each shape and connect the shapes with string.
Homemade Cards or Gift Tags - Creatively write messages and draw pictures on white cardstock using any art supplies you'd like. You can make the cards or gift tags any size. A huge, oversized card is always fun (11 x 17" folded in half), and is a great size for displaying. Cool gift tags cut into any shape--especially animal shapes--make unique and memorable gift tags.
Homemade Calendar - If you go to a copy shop like Kinko's, they can help you make a hanging monthly calendar in the typical 9 x 12" format. They'll put together a calendar for the entire year with a blank page on top of each month.
Children (young and old) can then lend their artistic talents to draw pictures of Mom, the family, landscapes, still lifes or any other type of artwork.
We hope you enjoy these ideas for homemade gifts. Gifts for Mothers are especially heartwarming when time is spent creating something special just for her. A homemade gift is always a big hit!
